According to my wiring diagram, S3 Fulvias should have a relay somewhere which makes the brake warning light on the dashboard flash on and off - mine doesn't work and the trouble is that I don't know where to find it! Can someone operate theirs, listen to where the sound of the relay comes from and let me know where it is? That way I should be able to trace the fault.....
Many thanks
Dashboard - brake warning light
Re: Dashboard - brake warning light
The relay for the warning light is a little circular thing about an inch in diameter and about half an inch thick and located in that pile of spaghetti underneath the dashboard. I have never heard of one failing.
The light doubles duty: first it shows that the handbrake is on - there is a switch underneath the handbrake and a wire extends across from the N/S of the car from the harness that runs to the back. Second, it is also actuated by the low fluid switch on the master cylinder to warn of low fluid (obviously!).
A note about that harness: it joins to the main harness with a plug which can be found (just) at the back of the dash on the extreme left hand side of the car. I have found cases where these connectors have been corroded and have caused petrol gauges not to work.
