Trip report

Unread post by Richard »

I am pleased to say that I took the family (wife+two small kids) on our annual summer holidays up the coast of South Africa, 1500kms in all, in the 1800 PF Coupe and it never skipped a beat. In fact, I never once changed out of top gear, even over the mountain passes, except to refuel of course. It did about 11 km/l average, at about 120 - 135 km/h. It used maybe 500 ml of oil and no water, with almost no change in water temperature and full oil pressure all the time.

What a lovely trip! It's the reason why I chose the Flavia as our family classic car. An old car can be just as reliable as a modern, and it was such a treat having so many people remark about the car. It's a great tourer in the old style of motoring - comfortable, quiet, with a large boot and cool enough with the windows open in the African sun.

So get those flat fours tuned up, chaps, and go on holiday. It's really worth it.
