Hello,
I need to change the cups for the rear axle shaft. Is it difficult to do ? Do I need special tools ?
Thanks for your help.
regards,
Thomas
Change the cups for axle shaft
Re: Change the cups for axle shaft
Hi Thomas:
Do you mean the rubber boots on the inboard joints mounted on the brakes? If so, are these the earlier joints that hold heavy oil or are they the later joints that hold grease?
If you are talking about the inboard joint boots, no you do not need special tools. You just need to pay close attention to how the parts disassemble and then reverse the process on reassembly. I've replaced far too many boots for the earlier heavy oil joints but interestingly never for the later joint.
