Flaminia or Aurelia gearbox ?

Unread post by Florent »

Hello,

I need a crown+pinion set for my Aurelia gearbox and I found one but I'm not able to said if it is for sure an Aurelia or a Flaminia one, so I'd like to get hints from Flaminia specialists :

- Was the ratio 11/41 fitted on Flaminias (I found that it was not standard but was it obtainable on demand ?)
- Is there an easy to check difference between Flaminia and Aurelia pinions ? ie, is the length of the Flaminia pinion the same as the Aurelia's one ? (the exact length of a Flaminia pinion would be a very usefull information)

Many thanks in advance for any help

Florent

Hi Florent:

I have never dealt with an Aurelia transaxle so I cannot answer most of your questions.

My Flaminia parts book lists the following pinion/crown wheel ratios:

12/47 (for early berlinas and PF coupes); 13/45 (for single carb 2.5 Zagatos); 13/46 (for 2.8 3C GT); 13/47 ( for 2.8 3C convertible and also GTL); 13/48 (for single carb 2.5 Tourings); 13/49 (for 2.8 3B PF coupes); 13/51 (for later berlinas including 2.8 and 2.5 3B PF coupes).

I hope that helps.

Randy,

Thank you for your help, as I do not have the Flaminia parts book I was not able to check this out.
Next step will be to get the gearbox out of the car and re-open it once more !

Thanks again
