Hello Michiel:

Are you trying to fabricate a new one? Or are you trying the adjust the one you have. If the latter, I recommend you consult the special manual that Lancia published concerning this system.

If you are suspecting that your rod is now adjusted too long, the quick and dirty method is to shorten it and see if the brakes are still dragging. Be aware, however, that a common cause for brake drag is sticking of the vacuum piston in the vacuum chamber. Make sure the interior surface of the chamber is as smooth as possible and then try to find a stable type of grease (that won't just turn to oil on the bottom of the can) and grease the interior of the chamber. I'm assuming that your brakes are sticking because that is overwhelmingly the most common malady of the system.

Best of luck.

Dear Randy,

Thank you for yous suggestion, but I did the job already with the push rod and the membrane in the chamber. Fianlly I found the reason. The piston of the small membrane (air inlet) was jammed and I had trouble to get it out andalso the OR ring was broken. After cleaning the piston and changing the OR rings (also from the small bottom piston), everything worked properly and the problem is solved now.

Thanks again for your reaction,

Michiel:

I am glad to hear you solved the problem. The Flaminia brake system is a very complex one and can be quite fiddly to get working right. But it is also the most sensitive and powerful system in existence during its years. So, it's worth the effort.
