Hi there,
Sorry to post to your forum in English but I am hoping someone will be able to help me.
Finally getting everything working on my 1997 Dedra 1.9TD estate.
One last thing that I cannot seem to resolve is the backlighting on the ECC control panel. The temperature LCD display and the fan speed LCD display light up correctly, the small LEDs next to the buttons light up OK but the rest of the panel is unlit.
I removed the panel to find 8 small bulbs. These bulbs are all fine (and two of them are for the LCD displays), but the backlight bulbs (6 of them) do not light up wen the lights are on.
Any ideas or suggestions as to where to start tracing wires/connections or is there a specific fuse that I should be looking at?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Climate control backlighting
Hello Mike,
I've had the same problem with my Delta TD HPE,
It isn't hard to solve, open your ECC control panel,
in the middle of the panel there are 4 smd diode valves , near the AUTO and ECON buttons,
usually these diode valves , with the hot temperature ,get unsoldered.
Try to reconnect the panel without the cover and touch these diode valves,
if they work yet , the bulbs will turn on, otherwise you have to change them.
I suggest you to put on these diode valves a little Heat Spreader.
If you need more informations ask with confidence,

Re: Climate control backlighting
Wow many thanks for a fast response,
Do you have a picture or digram so I can see where and what they are?
Also, if I need new ones, what do I ask for at en electronics shop?

Re: Climate control backlighting
Hi Mike,
now I haven't a picture but it's very easy to find these diode valves ,
they are 4 small cylinders - black with light brown line - 5mm length -
near the 2 buttons (AUTO , ECON) just covered by the button's rubber protection.
Each near the other: I I I I .
If you have open your ecc control panel yet, send me a photo of the electronic panel so I will mark the four diode.
If you want to change by yourself these diode you have to be very careful and have a good solder, otherwise you could break the circuit.
best regards

Re: Climate control backlighting
Wow, thanks for the help!
I opened up the circuit board, plugged the connectors back in & touched the diode - the lights all came on!!!!!!
I dread to think what a dealer would have charged me for this knowledge!
Many, many thanks.
