Hello,
My Aurelia engine runs at about 65° C (70° C when 35° C outside !) and I feel like it is too cold (even if my engine runs really well) and the owner's manual does not give informations on the temperature it should reach. I checked with 3 different thermometers and the dashboard indication is right. I should have a look at the thermostat but, before trying to test it, I'd like to hear from Aurelia drivers.
Thanks in advance for any info.
Florent
Aurelia running temperature
Re: Aurelia running temperature
Florent,
65 °C looks to me a bit low. I have been more used to 75 °C, but I have not checked it against a reference thermometer. This is the value I get when driving on the motorway, or on main roads (not in stop and go traffic).
Do you have the louvres connected, and are they closing correctly? I have found that you need them to maintain a stable water temperature, especially on cold days. When you let the car idling for 15 minutes after a drive, the louvres will open, and the temperature will go up to 85 - 90 °, and stay there.
By the way, unscrewing the housing for the thermostat near the radiator is very frequently impossible because of aluminium corrosion. Be careful, and be prepared to buy another housing!
Keep us informed!
Sébastien

Re: Aurelia running temperature
Sebastien,
Thanks for your answer.
75°C looks like a usual temperature my engine should be able to reach and I feel like the thermostat opens at a too low temperature.
The louvres are connected and seem to work and I've never seen them wide open, so, they are probably doing most of the job to maintain my engine to a quite stable temperature.
You're right, unscrewing the housing of the thermostat will probably be impossible and replacing it an obligation.
I will remove the whole water manifold and check the temperature the thermostat starts to open or if nothing keeps it open, and even if there is a thermostat fitted in the engine ; it should'nt be able to get 65° when 0° ouside without a thermostat fitted, but, anyway I will check soon.
Thanks again
