Hello,
Can anyone provide the curb weights of these two coupe versions of the Appia? The only figures I seem to find for both are 890 kg which is the weight also most often indicated for the sedan version which therefore seem inaccurate. I know the zagato has an all aluminum body while the pininfarina has several aluminum panels which seems to give the edge to the zagato but by how much?
Thanks,
Rob
Appia coupe question: Zagato vs. Pininfarina
Re: Appia coupe question: Zagato vs. Pininfarina
I have a 1962 brochure for the Appia Pinifarina coupe that states a kerb weight of 18 4/5 CWT and 955 kg, i only have one brochure for the Appia GTE by Zagato no weight is stated in it for this Zagato version.
There is also a ca 1960 modelline brochure for the Appia, dry weights stated in it are as follows:
Appia Pf Coupe 18 3/4 cwt
Appia Convertible 18 2/3 cwt
Appia GTE 16 1/2 cwt
regards,
Jorn

Re: Appia coupe question: Zagato vs. Pininfarina
I quote from La Lancia, Wim Oude Weerninck, 2nd edition:
Coupe: 925 Kg (Pininfarina)
Convertible: 920 Kg (Vignale)
GTE: 810 Kg (Zagato)
Appia 3rd series:
Lusso: 930 Kg (Vignale)
Short wheelbase Zagato: 820 Kg
Check that book for more details on chassis numbers and performance.

Lambda bonnet
Hello all,
The chairman of the Lancia club here in Cape Town is a retired gent who has an almost completed Lambda. It's quite beautiful, engine done, body painted in a rich blue with black mudguards, wheels and brakes perfect; but things are tough with him at the moment and to finish the project, the only major part he needs is a bonnet, but finances are not forthcoming.
Does anyone have one they would part with for reasonable money? He can work wonders with old parts, so it doesn't have to be in perfect condition.
I hope someone can help - I would love to see the car on the road.
regards,
Richard
