Hello!
I got the following warning messages on the info-center.
"Brake Light Failure"
"Brake Light Fuse Failure"
All 3 brake lights work perfectly but I keep getting these messages the whole time.
1 year ago I had these messages but they dissapeared, but this winther they came back and they are still there when I turn the ignition key.
How do I get rid of the problem? Is it water or moisture in the system somewhere?
And in which Fuse Box is the Brake Light Fuse. I believe its correct that there is 3-4 boxes in this car?
Besides from this its a truly great car!
I drive a Kappa 20v Turbo from 1999.

Re: Kappa - Brake Light Failure + Brake Light Fuse Failure
Try to clean brake light switch first!
Re: Kappa - Brake Light Failure + Brake Light Fuse Failure
Hello Kappa driver!
I found the Break Light Fuse under the dashboard. It's the "Service1" fuse (15amp).
It still looks okay and I also tried to switch it with a spare 15amp but the problem is still there...
If the problem was the "brake light switch" itself wouldn't that prevent the stoplights from working?
Remember the stoplights works perfectly!
I assume you mean the switch thats connected to the brakepedal?
Well it's worth a try... I will try to clean it later today.

Re: Kappa - Brake Light Failure + Brake Light Fuse Failure
I can't speak from experience on the Kappa check system, but the Thema system is primarily based upon measurement of the resistance in the circuit. If the resistance in a circuit is out with tolerances then it will trigger a warning message.
On this basis it would be worth checking and cleaning all the contact points in the brake circuit, e.g. the brake light switch, the fuse and the earth points for the brake lights which are presumably in the boot.

Re: Kappa - Brake Light Failure + Brake Light Fuse Failure
Hello,
Once I had a major electrical problem. I was driving on a hiway to work at night and the onboard computer started to show me a lot of messages like fuses and lights broken. Those lights were actually off but not broken and there was nothing wrong with the fuses. All were OK.
I followed the circuits on some electrical drawings that I have and all failed circuits ended in a box. This is like a central lights ( most of them ) control unit. This box is located under the driving wheel, somewhere behind the fuse panel.
It had to be replaced and everything was ok again. There were no lights or fuses broken, only this box.
Now, in your case, the problem comes and goes and that sugests that there are some "bad electric contacts" wich become worse in the winter due (maybe) to increased level of humidity.
This is very comun in low voltage circuits like in cars ( 12v and 24v ). It happens as this circuits get old.
If I were you, I would check / clean electric contacts related with this circuits where you have problems. This box that I'm talking about is a good start along with the fuse panel. The box have a electronic board inside so don't mess with it. It costs arround 500 euros.
Buy a good electric contact cleaner spray . The ones that evaporate are better. Don't use those oil based spray that remain there for a long time.
Disconnect your battery and use the spray on those big plugs. Close and open those plugs several times to reenforce electrical contact. Let the spray evaporate and if the problem was "bad electrical contacts", you should have it solved.
If not ... well, you probably didn't find the right spot where the "bad electric contact" is, or, the problem is due to something else.
If you have trouble finding the mentioned box, please contact me and I will send you some diagrams that can help you.
