Torque settings

Unread post by AO »

Not having manuals to hand would appreciate advice on torque settings:

1600 V4 5 speed box:

Clutch casing to Flywheel bolts (M8)
Gearbox housing to engine cap bolts
Exhaust manifold to cyl head M8 bolts
Radiator long bottom bolts
Starter motor to gearbox/engine housing bolts
Engine to subframe mount bolts both sides (M8)
Top of gearbox engine steady - 4 x M8 bolts and one large 13mm? ( which also has clutch cable guide)

Engine / gearbox / subframe Torque settings?

Unread post by julian67 »

Hi

Would anyone have the S1 Fulvia Zagato/ Coupe mounting rubber bush torque settings for:

Subframe?
Engine?
Gearbox?

Any tips as to removing engine / gearbox / subframe without removing anything?

Many thanks

From the top of my head, the torque is 6 kgm. There is a catch. Many of the new repro rubbers are a bit too high so you loose too much torque on compressing the rubber

I see I forgot some.

If I have the new rubbers which are a bit too thick I look up the maximum torque for the type of bolt and use that.

The two bolts through the engine support at the bottom are M8 grade 8.8. Maximum torque for a M8x1.25 grade 8.8 bolt is 27 Nm. I use 27 Nm or 25 Nm. If the rubber is not too thick I use 22 Nm. Play with a torque between 22 Nm and 27 Nm depending on the rubber. The book is confusing. It lists 20 Nm as well as 21 Nm.

The single bolt at the rear of the gearbox is M10x1.25 grade 8.8. Max torque is 57. Play with a value between 35 Nm and 57 Nm depending on size of rubber. Fulvia DT 11/0010 says 28 Nm.

The six subframe mounting bolts are M12x1.25 grade 8.8. Max torque 101 Nm. Book says 50 Nm. If you have new rubbers, that is almost certainly too low. Start with 90 or even 100, maybe. Check after running the car and continue checking. We at Casa Lancia have subframe rubbers and suspension silent blocs specially made in Italy from high quality natural rubber.
