1992 Delta 1.5 LX gearbox noise

Hello. I've just bought my first Delta: a 1992 1.5 LX. On my initial drive, I noticed that the transmission has some whine/noise to it at low speeds. I wondered if that was typical of the car, or likely to be something amiss?

Actually, on further driving, it is clutch noise when engaged, rather than transmission noise. The car has not been driven much in the past few years, as far as I'm aware (although the car is very clean overall).
