1989 Y10 1.1 ie problems

Unread post by Svein Roedland »

Hi, my car has some problems with running with more than half throttle respons. Once i press the throttle more than halv way to the floor the engine cuts totally. Only with rpm over 4500 it will run with full throttle. When i release it again it runs normally. This failure comes and goes periodically. When the problem occure, the smell of the car is like when the mixture of air/gas is to fat.
Could it be the Bosch ECU for the injectionsystem that is connected to the distrubutor or something else? Coil? Sparks, distributorcap, rotor and cables are all new. My local garage controlled the CO and ignition without finding anything wrong, but the error didn't show up then of course....

I found the fault myself: The cable from the ignitionmodule to the sensor in the distrubutor was tottally corroded and worn. Some places even without the plastic insulation. I changed the whole ignition module cause i had one in spare. The engine is now running as new!
