What is the difference between the S2 turbo and the S3 turbo? The S2 delivers 177 BHP compare to the 201 BHP from the S3.
Do they have the same boost (S2: 0.6 bar)?
Do they have the same ignition system?
Can you easily make your S2 engine deliver the same power as the S3?

The S3 has a bigger turbo-charger. Also has Bosch Motronic full engine management, whereas the S2 has Bosch fuel injection and Marelli Weber ignition. The extra power comes from the bigger turbo so you probably could one to your S2 and get a lot more power. However the S2 is quick enough!! It is an interesting comparison, the S2 does not suffer from turbo lag like the S3 does so the S2 is probably not much slower. My friend has an 8V turbo engine in his Thema and it is just a bit slower.

The S3 has a unique head design with the size of the valves, also different management and an uprated turbo which is water and oil cooled.
The S3 may have more BHP but the S2 has a lot more torque. You can increase the boost to a safe maximum of 1.2bar (1 bar safer) and then you will truly fly! You get about 5BHP per 0.1 bar increase.
