Front Crank oil seal

Unread post by foggy »

I've never done one without stripping the engine down, I've got the engine on the bench, the front pulley and water pump off and going to attempt to replace the seal by removing the front cover, has anyone ever done it this way? can I leave the oil pump in place or do I have to remove the shaft before removing the cover, obviously the main difficulty will be trying not to damage the crank case to block gasket.
Thanks,
Tony.

Done it, not too difficult but I've not put it back together yet!

Next time just take the pulley off and use a screw driver to remove the front seal. No need at all to remove the front cover.

It is human to make getting it off complicated.
