Re: 100 % syntetic oil........of course, but whatttt ?
Kassus,
I run a Nouvo Delta HPE HF, when it went in for it's first service I ask which was the best oil - Mobil 1 or Castrol RS both full synthetic and was told they were both the same and depended on how much I wanted to spend.
I have also had Valvoline used.
With either of these 3 Brands I think you pays your money and take your choice, but all are good.

Hi Themies,
Interresting topic you brought up here,
Why use full synthetic when Lancia prescribes multigrade 15W40 SG, but advises 10W30 at lower temperatures?
I always use Denicol Semi-synthetic 10W40 with SJ index, wich overrules SG. I use it in both cars thema 16V atmo and Turbo16V, and in my motorbike, so I can use the same 30L barrel for all (yes it's just lazyness).
Does anyone know if full-synthetic is better and why?.
I've also been told that semi-synthetic doesn't really exist anymore, but this name is still used for 10W, is this true?.
So much questions.. and now some answers from a lube-specialist please.
Regards,
Pol

Hi kassus!
My Thema 3,0 gets Castrol RS 10W60 (full synthetic). Good results, today the engine has 335.000 km without any problems.
Two year ago I changend for one fill onto Castrol RS 0W40. Tremendous oil consumption - a lot of deposits on the spark plugs! Changing back to the oil mentioned above cured these problems immediately.
No question, I recommend full synthetic oil, but no 0W for the Alfa V6 engine.

Rolf

FIAT Selenia 10w/60 or Agip Racing 10W/60 are good (Italian) choices
