what have I bought?

Unread post by zephyrus »

Ok...I just bought a 94 Thema for £1000 it has 37000miles on the clock fsh blah blah blah.It has 2.0LE on the grill....so what is that all about?I have never seen an LE before. Is it something to do with the interior spec or something?I can,t seem to find any info on it.The guy I bought it from forgot to bring the owners manual round but will do so in the future.I know him well through business so its not a problem.Just wondering about it.

First impressions of it is that its a nice driving car.Pretty steady on the road with little body roll in cornering. It has its power in the right places for driving as well. And its a comfortable car.

I now own two Lancias!!woo hoo.I also have a 1978 Beta coupe 1300cc which i have managed to keep.I need a bigger car for an expanding family.I know plenty about Betas but not much about Themas.

I was also pleasantly surprised about the Thema as my best mate has a Saab 9000 around the same age and to be honest its a terrible car compared to the Thema as far as my first impressions go.

Sorry for rambling...still a bit excited.Saw the car for the first time yesterday and just dived in feet first today. You can,t go far wrong for a grand anyway...

Hi. LE is just to do with the spec of the car. If you are in the UK, the S3 came in 3 specs. Base VIS, LE and LS turbo.

The LE has over the basic Thema :

Solextra Glass - heat absorbing tint
Alcantara upholstery
ABS
Rear electric windows

Probably a couple of other things but i can't remember. If it is an auto you also get air con thrown in for some reason best known to Lancia. If you are in Europe, i believe they came in base, LE, LS, LS turbo and LX.

If you want to know more, join the Thema and Dedra Consortium. There is also a good book available through them which details all the models and the various variations.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the info Lindsay.I rather suspected that it was an interior thing but its good to know.I am in the Lancia Motor club die to Beta coupe ownership. Is the Thema consortium at the stage of having to pool parts and stuff already?I would have thought that parts would still be able to be found....but I will join if it helps keep these cars on the road.I will also purchase as much reading amterial as I can about the Thema. My wife rips me to bits about the legths I got to with my cars but I like to try and have a bit of understanding of them.

Thanks for the info.Is the self adjusting rear view mirror cool or what?hahaha

Hi everybody!

As far as for Germany there were the following variations

LE as the basic for the 2 Liter ie (8 valves) and the Diesel Version only
LS as the upgraded version for 2 Liter 16 valves, turbo, 3 Liter V6 (Diesel ???)
LX as the top version for 2 Liter turbo and 3 Liter V6 only (2 Liter 16V ???)

At the beginning in 1992, early 1993 there also were some 3 Liter V6 in LE version. These are very rare!

Hi. The Consortium is all about keeping Themas and Dedras on the road. Some parts are now getting difficult to source. Bear in mind the last Themas were sold 9 years ago in the UK. After next year Fiat will have no obligation to provide parts under law. The Consortium has a number of cars breaking and a lot of second hand parts, a monthly newsletter and access to technical advice. Worth it for the £10 joining fee and £15 annual subs. Let me know if you want me to send you an application form. cheers
