Fuel light issue

Unread post by AussieLancia2000HF »

My 2000HF has decided that the fuel light will stay on irregardless of whether the tank is full or not
I have not investigated possible causes yet and don't want to get too involved with pulling sensors out of tanks etc for fear of not knowing what I am doing in a flammable environment
Does anyone have any relevant experience with this kind of issue and if so any pointers?
thanks

Wise car, your HF. :)

The reading of the meter is also zero I assume?

Yes, the meter also reads zero as well as the low fuel light being illuminated, irregardless of the amount of fuel in the tank

under the trunk carpet you will find the sending unit.
Dismount it, and test its working.

......it might be the float arm blocked (by rust or dirty) or the float sunk; As already suggested the best is dismount it a take a look.

Hi Rob,
Have a chat with Marc Bondini, you can find him in the Australian Lancia Register membership list. He can talk you through what I think the problem could be.
