fulvia seatbelts

Unread post by gamma a.i. »

calculating sharply, in March 2015 our new S3 will have 40 year old seatbelts; assuming that these belts were installed in 1975. If they were not, the belts are certainly rather old anyway.

Several Simple Questions:

1) is it worth installing (new) 4 point belts, reducing the (laffable) rear-bench to a soft-bag storage bin ? For a) safety b) ralley look
Standard S3 comfy-seats have headrests;which will allow for shoulder belts to be slipped thru the headreat supports so as to not have the shoulder belts permanently falling off the seat shoulders.

any tips about how to mount the belts?

2) don't worry about it, although they feel "dried-out" and look to be as worn as they are..i.e. fuzzy-wuzzy optic

3) install new 3 point belts using the original mounting points ?

thank you in advance

aha, replies came in from all corners; the general gist was:

if U want 2 b cramped, unable to shift in 2d & 5th, if U want to prevent urself from leaning forward to check for oncominG traffic...install 4 pointers:

thank You to all ! Good Points !

A fine solution was found in ordering 2x 3 point belts - 1 belt right shoulder - 1 belt left shoulder - connecting together into 1 belt with a reel, single belt
to be mounted under rear seat cushion + (od course) 2 connecting hip belts. Reel allows fore & aft upper body movement.

you got it!

of course they R less Xpensive in DE.

Brian, Our Personal Tuev & More Major Tasks Zentrale, can order a set or 2, Since our white Fulvia shouldl be Tuev ready soon.

Since Brian - as a Auto-Shop Owner - should receive at least 40% disconto....

He has mounted Schroth 3 Point Belts in countless older Alfalfa & BMW; he never had a Lania in his Shop - before meeting us !.

the not yet discounted price VAT-free is € 152....we pay no VAT & it is legal (lucky me) ;)

Of course Brian will mount these belts "properly / certainly acheiving Tuev approval (as required); with Tuev Approval Documents on board at all times (required) as well.

Brian is currently rebuilding (having rebuilding that is) a 1.3S engine for us; we'll (have to be) looking for a Cpe to put that engine in soon alas!!

This free-of-charge motor was donated, it started & ran, it was >very> noisy, so we had a little-look inside. U already know rest of this "Paul Harvey Story" !; don't you

Its "previous owner" (Gamma ex-Driver) needed to rid himself quickly of many parts / assemblies/ complete & incomplete Lancia. (+ 1 UK Taxi)
"Junky-Worthless Items" (he claimed) that his (soon to be ex) wife was planning to present in a court of law as further grounds for..........

Anyway, that "Junk" no longer exists ... -
Mr. "Joe le Taxi" pays a mini-storage fee for his Hobby-Taxi; on a 1 Beer per 1 Week plan; we don't want it !!! At any price !!

Nowadays that Lancia-Junk clutters up our already crowded-warehouse + outback sheds. It now belongs to us !! Taxi sits Outside !!!

We had to rid us of much other-clutter to make room for new-clutter.

Now the empty pallets can sit outside until we load them in 10 days - to return them (in our truck) to Milan, where they were born.

Perhaps we can transport an enginless Fulvia when we drive the truck home - via AT - to avoid crossing into CH !

NOTE: CH is not in Europa nor a Member of EU; therefore CH can block transit of Certain-Items", sometimes including blocking Rolling-Items that roll under their own Power & have legal License-Plates mounted - thru their Kantonen ! Oh Well !!

Someone Lancia Somewhere will maybe need Something of them (valuable) Clutter Items...Someday...maybe.
