Fuel pump relay

Unread post by Odd Erik »

Finally I've found the problem my car suffers from! There was a short circuit in the fuel pump relay. I've changed this. This made one of the wires going to the brain get so hot it burned of the isolation burn of. It seems like the wire is going to ground somewhere on the way to the brain. Where is the brain situated? I've told it's in the dashboard. Just where is it situated? How can I reach it? I think it's behind the glove compartment. Will the problem be fixed by replacing a new wire, or is it possible there's more damage?

Hi Erik,
The Bosch ECU is behind the dashboard - on a UK right hand drive car it is at the extreme right hand side, there is a small panel that can be removed to get to the securing screws. The ABS controller is there also (smaller box). However, the fuel pump is driven by the Bosch multifunction relay near the battery. It will probably be a thick grey wire that has an inline connector near the relay.

Good luck, LeoOdd Erik wrote:
