Ignition Control Unit

I have a Thema 16v (1990), the ICU (digiplex med 440A) appears to have failed. Can this device be easily tested off the car? Is this unit fitted to other models by Fiat if so which? Any information would be most welcome.

Have you cleaned all the ground points yet? I had the similar problem last year with my 90 Thema. I went out one morning to start it, and no fire at all. I cleaned every ground point contact I could find. I think the culprit in my case was the ones on the frame below the headlights, they are the push on spade connectors. After I cleaned all the grounds, the car fired right up, and haven't had a problem since(keeping fingers crossed)
