Re: Fulvia 1600 HF Fanalino Corsa
Hi Ed
Just returned from Italy and I am pleased to say I am now the new owner of a very nice 1600 HF. Whether it is a Fanalino Corsa or not will have to remain a mystery. The subframe ID plate, when cleaned of paint, clearly revealed the number 740, but I could not see any numbers on the vertical castings. So while the car has all the components associated with a Corsa, apart from the Perspex rear windscreen, it seems from, what I have heard and read, that there is no definitive way of proving that this car or any other is actually an illusive "Fanalino Corsa".
It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the above.
Best regards
Chris

Re: Fulvia 1600 HF Fanalino Corsa
Hi Chris,
What are the numbers after 818740 on the subframe..should be something like this..818 740-XXXX. The numbers following the dash are the sequential production subframe numbers. If it is a very early number,It may help the quest to your holy grail.
Regards,
Joe

Re: Fulvia 1600 HF Fanalino Corsa
Hi Joe
Thanks for the message. The full number on the sub frame ID plate is 818 740 000511, the chassis number is 818 740 001482, so both numbers are low but not sub 200. However I am not assuming that that the first 200 numbers were given solely to the Corsa models if indeed it exists. I can't believe it is as simple as that!
Many thanks
Chris

Re: Fulvia 1600 HF Fanalino Corsa
hi everybody,
sorry for this late answer, i'm really busy for the moment.
you are talking about the uper arm with or without greaser, as far as i know, all the fanalino 1600 HF have grease at the uper arm, the difference is at the lower arms.
the subframe of the fanalino are all 818740 and there is no difference about that...
i have not the truth, and my english is not good enough to anderstand everything you said and to explein my point of vue.
but i know that my car and two other are not normal fanalino and that there are in original condition (my car was storaged for the 30 last years)
Cédric.

Re: Fulvia 1600 HF Fanalino Corsa
Thanks CHris,
Now on the engine bell housing should also be a engine number..something like... 818540*XXXX..what are those numbers.
Also on the front left right guard..about 3/4 QTRS down toward the bonnet.should be some numbers stamped in the gutter..It should also look like 818 740-XXXX..have you got those. Now they may not be there as due to accident can be changed..but this is also a sequential number.
My opinion for what it is worth..It is an early series 2 HF 1.6, and your numbers so far confirm all this this and am comfortable you have amatching number car..interste in your ngine number as it also should be around the chassis and subframe number.
As to existance of Corsa..I subscribe to Italian Route Classiche and have done so for many years and there was an article(long time ago) comparing these two cars..I will see if i can find it and scan for our group. There was also a salient diffrence in the rear HF badge it was a diffrent colour..blue versus yellow or vice vera can not remember.
I have met over the years many old Italian Lancia dealers dealers and there were many stories of custom orders for cars they delivered, and in fact as Ed said Lancia was never transparent on production numbers and we can only rely on anecdotal evidence and provenance as all records for Fulvia were inadvertantly destroyed..now that is another story.
Anyhow from what i see you have purchased a car which i am sure the owners cost would have exceeded your purchase value. The HF engine while expensive to rebuild(done correctly)..It is the body work which is the most problematic and costly.

Joe

Chris,
Congratulations! Corsa or not (and I tend to think not), it sounds like you got a nice example.

Re: Fulvia 1600 HF Fanalino Corsa
Chris, well done sounds like an interesting purchase, when do you expect to have it back home? You would be most welcome to attend the the Surrey LMC meeting with a number of Fulvia owners in regular attendance on the 3rd Thursday of the month (evening) at the The Abinger Hatch, near Dorking, let me know if you need further details.
Re: Fulvia 1600 HF Fanalino Corsa
Thanks Ed
I'll keep you posted on any further investigations I make once the car is back in the UK.
Thanks again for your very valuable help and advice.

Re: Fulvia 1600 HF Fanalino Corsa
Thanks Neil
I'm over in Tunbridge Wells so not too far from you. Thanks for the invite. Hopefully see you at a meet sometime later in the summer. If not in Surrey perhaps at a general Lancia Club meeting.
