Problems with Lancia Dedra 1.6ie
This may be a WERY stupid question but is there anyone who could tell me where the so called "fresh air filter" is located.
It is the filter that filters the air before it is directed to the cabin, i can't find it anywhere !?!?
It seems like the filter would be bloked because when it rains or when i have more than 2 persons in the car all the windows get steamed up even tho i have the heater on full power, it sounds like the air would be coming with full power but somewhere in the middle of the system there is something that seems to be blocking it for coming properly to the cabin
Thanks a lot of your help
: )
Dedra air filter ????
Re: Dedra air filter ????
you will need to remove both wiper arms and then detach the large black plastic trim below the windscreen (held in place by several screws) this will give access to the ventilation system and pollen filter (if one is fitted...normally it was, I believe, only fitted to cars with air conditioning) quite why lancia chose to make this part so inaccessable is a mystery and one which even the official workshop manuals do not reveal!!...you are therefore not so very stupid to ask!
Re: Dedra air filter ????
further to my reply it sounds rather as if the system is stuck in recirculation mode this is assuming it either has the automatic heating system or full aircon

Thanks for your help!
I removed the filter totally and now the power of the heating fan is more than good!, BUT still when it rains the windows get steamed up easily, to me it looks like the car wouldn't have recirculation on the heater controls, my car doesn't have airconditioning and the system is not automatic..
I'm really going to be in trouble when the winter comes : ) with -25celsius.. brrrrr

Hi!
Are you sure there is no coolant leak from the heater matrix? A friend had a very tiny matrix leak in his '95 Kappa and it did cause the windows to steam up. If this is the trouble, you should notice the smell of coolant inside the car.

Re: Dedra air filter ????
May sound a stupid question to ask but are you sure air is coming out of slots below windscreen when knob is set to screen? I have found quite often that it isn't the case and you need to move the knob slightly out of position.
You can reset the knob but as it is all interlinked to the other heater controls & difficult to set up it is worth setting the knob slightly away from it's marked position to see if that works.
If not let me know & I can email you instructions from the workshop manual on how to set it up.
I assume you have checked for water leaks into the interior & drain tubes from the heater box are not blocked?
