Hi there!
I've one Dedra 1.6 '92 to buy. 138000 Km. Could be my first Lancia so I just want to know your opinion about it. Is it good? Am I going to have problems or anyhing like that?
Please give me some advice...
Thanks!
Diogo

Re: Dedra 1,6 '92
In my opinion the 1600 is not the best version to buy it is quite refined but terribly slow you would be much better served to find a 1800 or a 2000 with the twin cam engine much more satisfactory.Whilst others may disagree I never found the Dedra to handle like a Lancia should so I feel it depends what you want from it .It is an excellent smooth long distance car very comfortable but more fun can be had with a Delta (of either series) or probably better still a beta if you can find one in good condition even a Beta saloon is more fun than a Dedra. However the Dedra does have durability on its side and that may be important in regular use.

Hi
I have a Lancia Dedra 1.6ie too with 279.000km on it, it is true that is isn't so fast but much faster than a normal Peugeot 405 1.6, atleast i won my friend in the acceleration+ top speed, i got my dedra to 190km/h..
the fuel consumption is wery low, the car is wery quiet inside, and is WERY comfortable,BUT the worst problem that i am going to have in the future with my Dedra and have had with other italian cars is the rust that get's to the car about 200x faster than to a Saab or Volvo wich has much better steel.
the spareparts are also pretty expensive, atleast here in Finland...
so if you want a dedra and need a fuel friendly comfortable car that is wery nice to drive, i can suggest the dedra...
of course the delta is quiker (not the 1.3 delta!!) and maybe some other models like the beta too, but atleast the experience tells me the dedra has a much nicer interior with the wood panels and all... the delta interior maybe looks too much like a fiat ritmo or something : )...
well, it depends what you are looking for..
i hope this helped a little...

I have had two Dedra 1.6's and liked them a lot. I parted with the last one when it was 9 years old and had 160000 km on the clock. It was still in a very good condition but I wanted to sell it when it still had some resale value. In my experience, here are some points to look at:
1) Depends where you live, but in the rough Finnish climate the electrics sometimes seemed rather light-duty. Mostly the problems were not complicated or expensive to fix, but needed some detective work and very flexible fingers. The one exception is central locking which almost certainly fails sooner or later and is not exactly cheap. And no matter how badly you want all those cute green lamps on the instrument panel and the switches to glow at night, they won't. And no-one can possibly have so much spare time as is needed to replace and fix them.
2) With my Dedras, rust was not really a problem at all. What was a problem was that the paint tended to peel off from the galvanized body at some points, eg. around the rear wheel arches and rear door edges.
3) Both my Dedras left me on the road with the engine crankshaft speed/position sensor failure so it must be a typical fault.
4) The Alcantara trim looks very nice in new cars, but very un-nice in old ones. It is nearly impossible to clean and notoriously expensive to replace, so you just have to comfort yourself with the fact that when you sit on it, you can't see it.
5) The 1.6 is no sports car and the most noticeable result of putting your foot down is the rough noise that emerges. If you want something to show off with, don't even touch the 1.6. On the other hand, the 1.6 Fiat engine is virtually indestructible.

I HAVE A DEDRA 1.6 FROM 1995.
I'M VERY PLEASED FOR MY CHOICE GENERALLY,BUT I THINK THAT IT TAKES A LOT OF FUEL (10 LITERS/100KM).I'M INTERESTED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR CONSUMPTIONS AND MAYBE SOME TROUBLES THAT YOU HAD WITH YOUR CAR.
I AM LIVING IN ISRAEL,A HOT COUNTRY AND HAVE SOME PROBLEMS WITH OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE .
IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS I HEAR SOME NOISE FROM THE ENGINE,I'M STILL NOT SURE WHERE FROM COMES THE NOISE THAT I HEAR.
I HAD'NT ANY PROBLEMS WITH RUST,I LIVE 5 KM FROM THE MEDITERANIEN SEA,THAT MEANS A LOT OF HUMIDITY .
I HOPE TO HEAR NEWS FROM YOU !

Hi,
I have 2 Lancia's, the Dedra 1.6ie is brilliant, its very reliable and quick. It handles like a dream, I have not touched the suspension but fitted 15" x 7j alloys with 195 50 15 tyres, its cheap to run as it uses Fiat Tipo parts. Meanwhile I have a 1994 Thema 2.0ie 16v Vis which handles awful so I have purchased some Jamex Springs for £88 and probably buy some s/h 16" or 17" alloys as the car is excellent. The Dedra is marginally better (Controls - Clutch, Brakes etc) as the car is modern compared to the Thema.

Hi Shah
Never had any problems with the handling on my 1994 2.0ls auto vis suggest look at bushes and arms first as they go sloppy
