Water from dashboard

Unread post by Don »

L Reg Integrale Evo 1: 45,000kms

Hi,
Yesterday I accelerated hard in first gear and my right foot got wet. The water - and it does appear to be just water - came from somewhere around the back of the centre console but I can't identify the source.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? It's a very low mileage car in (seemingly) near perfect condition.

cheers
leo

Hello Don,
Check that there is no rain water collecting in the area to the side of the heater unit (under the bonnet). There are two drains, one each side that may be blocked. The drains are formed by rubber pipes about 25 mm diameter that have the ends folded in so can get blocked by leaves. The water could then find its way in past the seal that surrounds the hole in the bulkhead that the heater sticks through. The pipes that feed the heater matrix are at the offside of the unit - assuming that your car is lhd then not likely to be heater related.

If your car has air-conditioning then it may simply be a build of condensation, although at this time of year you probably have the heater on.

Good luck, Leo
Don

Turns out when the alarm was installed they dislodged a rubber seal when running wires through the bulkhead, which allowed water through. Some silicon paste cured this.

hi,
i had that problem once before, your "air-heat-radiator" its broken, u have two ways to resolve the problem, u can take off the dashboard and replace a new "air-heat-radiator", or u can can turn off the radiator by making a bypass, this means that u will have no more hot air...

regards,
