Evening all,
Just wondering of any listers may have advice on replicating the original wrinkle finish on Aurelia cam covers? Paint to use, preparation steps, ...and advice really. Kind Regards, Bob
Aurelia: Cam Cover Wrinkle finish
Re: Aurelia: Cam Cover Wrinkle finish
I used VHT Wrinkle paint for an Alfa twin cam - turned out very nicely. Prep was simply going down to bare metal and thoroughly degreasing . Follow the heat curing steps mentioned on the paint can.

Re: Aurelia: Cam Cover Wrinkle finish
I just used the VHT wrinkle paint on a Fulvia cam cover. Came out absolutely perfect.
Rough it up a bit with scotch bright. Thoroughly clean it.
Apply three layers:
one from 12 to 6 oçlock
one from 9 to 3 oçlock
one diagonally
After a few minutes of initial drying, I used the heat gun (paint stripper) to produce the wrinkle.
Next time I will probably pre-heat the cover to 40 degree C
