Re: Oil leak

Many thanks for all your comments. as the saying goes, 'the obvious is can hide very well! I replaced the front crankshaft seal with a double lipped one and filled up with Millers oil. A short drive showed no leak and much cheering. A longer drived showed the leak again, but having cleaned the engin...

Re: Binding brakes

Well, after 3 rebuilds and bleeding sessions, fault found. I discovered the front piston has sezied. The front cylinder consists of a shaft and then a sliding cylinder with the drilled pressure release holes it in. This has stuck to the main shaft and explains why the spare I have is show a slightly...

Binding brakes

Forgive me for this, but I can find no thread which answers this. Having rebuilt my calipers and master cylinder, my front brakes are still binding! It appears that the front circuit is failing to release the pressure. I have checked the push rod length and made adjustments to ensure some free play ...

Re: Oil leak

Many thanks for all the comments. I followed Huib's advice and replace the front crankshaft seal with a double lipped one and am trying the Miller 10/60 oil. So far so good! I guess time will tell whether my engine rebuilding skills are poor or I have a more significant problem (if there can be one ...

Re: Help please - Fulvia Rear Axle

Hi, I do have a S2 rear axle. It has damage to the panhard rod bracket, but is easily fixed. Let me know if you are stuck. Mat

Re: Oil leak

Many thanks for the advice. I have put new rings on it , but have run in now, perhaps I am too impatient. I will try the oil soultion and am tempted by the Viton option - any idea where I can get them? Or the accurate dimensions of the seal (and the rear one!) I have a new water pump so I really hop...

Oil leak

Having painstakingly rebuilt my 1.3s engine, I am distressed to find it leaks! Its quite possible my care is insufficient, but any advice gratefully received. I am fairly sure the leak is from the front crankshaft seal, which I had replaced, it certainly doesnt appear to be the block/crankcase. Is t...

Re: Fuylvia 1.3 Carbs

Ed, thanks. I had seen these previously, but a little small really. Do you know if any other carbs fit the standard 1300cc manifold
thanks

Fuylvia 1.3 Carbs

Hi Having spent alot of time balancing and tuning the Solex carbs, they now run ok. As is often said, they are not the best carbs ever made. As we know the 35mm DHLB is a rare thing, despite searching some French yards for old Simcas (which I think used them), what other decent carbs fit the standar...

Re: Girling Brakes

Thanks Peter. I've drained the whole system down- mainly to check that I had the springs in the master cylinder thye right way round!. After refilling, I then had to manually suck fluid through - and it tastes awful - shall have to stick to meths!. Pedal pushing then worked and I think I have some b...
