Re: Carb acceleration problem
Zanetti,
So on May 5th you post a tutorial on taking apart and cleaning Solex carburetors and then on the 12th you say you are having problems with the carbs.
Did you take apart the carbs prior to having the problem?

Re: Starter Solenoid
Rick,
I sprayed some white lithium grease to no avail. I had it apart and it clicks nicely when the spring is off but seems not to have enough power to overcome the spring. I'll give the contact cleaner a try.

Re: Rear end hop
Rick, No, I can't give you a definitive no. Huib Good point, I left the front tires on the ground so it was quite funny the amount of weight I had to put in that trunk. Luckily I have all sorts of spare parts so into the trunk they went: starters, flywheels, generators. I stopped short of putting th...

Re: Rear end hop
Rick, If you can swing them I would go with the shocks Huib sells on this website. They are good performing shocks for street applications. Removing the leaf springs from the car and disassembling them is not a big deal. I used large c-clamps to keep them under control as I undid the bolts which hol...

Re: BBC 2 Top Gear 29th November
Huib, As I read your statement three thoughts came to mind; "Don't bogart that joint my friend, pass it over to me" (a song fron the Easy Rider soundtrack) We vilified Gamma for rambling although his may have been more discombobulated with all the capitals, commas, exclamation points, etc....

Re: Where to check Valve Clearance?
The feeler gauge should drag smoothly through A when it is set properly. If it can't be moved it's too tight, if it's flying through it's too open. I think the .40mm is the clearance to check the timing of the camshafts. If so you won't need it to set the valves. Of course the piston needs to be at ...

Re: Further to my carb issue: Fuel issue!
You really need to check the pressure. If too much fuel is getting pushed passed the needle valve the carbs will not meter the fuel properly. A typical vacuum gauge will also check fuel pressure, as mentioned previously you should be around 2.5 psi, not sure what that eauates to in bar or the other ...

Is it all the plugs and have you checked the fuel pump pressure?
