Brian,
Glad to hear that the backfire has gone away, and that the engine's back to health. Be careful making the pop pop noise when ferrying a civilian; sometimes they don't understand...
Instrument lights, has to be something easy like a fuse, yes?
Regards,
Shaun

Re: 1.3 running poorly
Hi Brian, I'm not sure I follow how more airflow -- from the new airbox -- would lead to the problem you had. But I'm pleased that the ballast resistor seems to have been the culprit. There have been previous threads on this board about checking the float level (here's one: float level setting . Thi...
Re: Bianca
Hi Sam, I can understand your concern about towing the car to start it. I've seen people damage bodywork with poorly applied tow ropes. Is there a reason (e.g. starter not operational, clutch frozen, no battery?) why your father/Lancia awakening assistant wants to tow start it instead of starting it...
Re: Bianca
Sam, thanks for the update. Sounds like you and your dad have been making good progress. I don't know anything about how long the car was sitting before you rescued it, or what condition it was in. But, if you're getting good compression, why do you think you need to do the valves? At least, without...

Re: exhaust manifold removal
My 1.3 Rallye Coupe had the same deceleration backfire, dating back to the time that I bought it four years ago. When I first got the car, I looked everywhere for holes and leaks without success, and so -- like Tim -- had resolved to view it as a feature instead of a defect. Just recently, when fidd...

Re: electric water pump
Well, Lancia for a long time had a reputation for engineering innovation, and I also have a soft spot for "specials", so I hope that Tyney does try the electric water pump, as well as the MegaSquirt. Provided, of course, that he reports back to the Viva-Lancia forum so that we can steal al...

Re: Follow-up
Peter, my recollection is that the rear bumper fits closely to the bodywork, and that, absent bumper over riders, was more cosmetic than protective on the Fulvia. I also looked through the bag of take-off bits, currently attached to one of the bumpers hanging in the rafters, and didn't see anything ...

Re: Rear bumper mounting
Peter, after viewing your message, I went out into the garage to look at my S1 bumpers, which are currently hanging in the rafters. Without borrowing my neighbor's ladder, I only have good line of sight on the front bumper. For what it's worth, here's a snapshot of the bracket on that. I'll try to g...

There were actually three Fulvias on this event last Spring, something that's fairly rare here in California. In addition to Peter's Series 1.5, Jeff...
