I am renovating a beta spider and am having trouble selecting reverse gear. I have adjusted the screw at the front attachment to the gearbox but it does not seem to make any difference.

Can anyone offer any advise

It could be that the linkages as a whole are 'gone' - I'd recommend you get in touch with Chris Bastow at Betacar www.betacar.co.uk and make some inquiries about his gear linkage renewal kit (bushes/rods etc).
Worth every penny.
In the meantime, are the other gears going in smoothly?
