water level sensor problem

Unread post by vlad47 »

Hi everyone,
I would like to ask if someone of you have found out how to fill up cooling water. The problem is that the water level is about 1mm about max (when hot) but in the tank the part where the sensor is too low. That's the reason why the computer is always showing the low water on my dashboard. I've tried overfilling, changing the pressure but nothing worked. I've also try another tank but still the same problem.
Thanks all for any ideas.

so, where is the sensor?!
(i have never taken a look at the system)

normally the sensor is in the upper tank, because the steam goes up, highest point...blablabla!

sensor allready changed for testing?
maybe it is not broken, but it gives wrong value?!

where should the sensor be?!?!?!

Hi Vlad,

everytime when I am in the Czech Republic, I have the same problem in the winter. When the diva was parked the whole night and the next day I start her, she gives me a warning that fluid level is too low. After a few minutes it goes away and doesn't come back. I park not in a straight level so that can be the problem, because in Holland it is very flat. So anyway, I check the level once and then I just ignore it.

This morning, my diva warned me again (I am in CZ now) and probably tomorrow again. When I am back in NL it will be gone. I suggest or live in Holland ;) or park your car level straight.
Arrivederci,

Confirmed, Hans.

When I park the car in a "nose up" position during very cold nights, the system warns about low cooling levels for a few moments.
Unless these moments increase in time or the warning does not go away any more, there is nothing to worry.

I have to admit that the over-sensitivity of the water level warning system had almost led to fatal consequences when I did not take a continuous warning even at operating temperature seriously. Consequently I drove around with less and less cooling water for a couple of days. Fortunately I checked the actual coolant level not very far before things would have gone seriously wrong and was able to identify a leak at a joint of the LPG vaporizer that had been replaced shortly before.

Best,
GWB

Hi,
yes I know it happened me once I had dirty sensor and only LPG showed me there's something wrong. But my problem is different. As you can see on the picture, the water level in sensor part is really very low, more than 5cm lower than it should be. I replaced the water tank (this problem was also with old one) because this one has good sensor but the warning is really annoying. The water level in this part isn't moving. If the car is in nose up position or in normal position, if the water is cold or not the water level there is always too low. The tank is made that if the water is cold or hot, the level in sensor part is the same (because of the pointless warnings). It worked this way in my old thesis. I've already tried the tank from it but with the same result :(

So finally I've found a way how to get the air outside :), the sensor is still a bit dirty but now I know how to get it worked.
