Wiring & starting issues for '82 Zagato

Hi! My 1982 Zagato has had an irratic, spontaneous starting problem ever since I've owned it. When I turn the ignition and it "chooses" not to start, I hear the fuel pump running but the solenoid doesn't click and the engine doesn't turn. I'll push-start it or occasionally jump it and after that it will usually start on its own again. At first I though it was a starter issue, but a fellow who has an '81 that had a similar problem said it was due to a bad connection with the relay panel mounted on the front driver-side wheel well. He bypassed the relay panel for that wire (the runs to the solenoid) and hasn't had any problems since. Can anyone help me identify which wires I'm dealing with, specifically, or direct me to an accurate wiring diagram? I've found the solenoid wire easily enough and see where it splits off, one part heading back towards the firewall and the other to the relay panel/box. I don't see where either connect to the wire to the ignition switch, since I have no clue what color that wire is supposed to be. I'd appreciate any help!! Thanks!
