Hello everyone,
as my site is still under construction, Ive decided to use this forum for presenting new features, untill the site will be done.
Some of you has already seen my day lights with auto launch when engine goes and even when operating windows using the key buttons (so detailed specification can be later).
A week before the meeting, my both front parking bulps have gone. This bulps has not any extra long life and this BAX9S (original) header is not one of the cheapest (even more expensive than LED). Yes you can buy BA9S and than wheel one pin, but your bulp will be shaking and its not the way thesis deserves. So Ive decided to try LED one. They didnt arrived before the meeting so I had to buy original one

but now Ive installed them.
Both cost 12,40$.
The main point is, they are error free, so no error on the dashboard B)

Night photos will be later.

very nice. You are right, the standard bulbs are typically not lasting very long.

Hi Vlad,
those LEDs you bought for replacement of the parking lights: did you install resistors to avoid error messages?
Thanks.....Starbiker

Thats the reason I decided to share my experience. Everyone knows there must be a resistor to avoid the error, but I was told the problem is, that the resistor makes more heat than allowed and may cause problems. This bulps has something integrated (no resistor) what suppresses the error. It was mentioned at describtion when buying. So I only replaced them, nothing more

and its working.

I just searched through ebay and indeed there are LED bulbs with "integrated CANBUS module". I wonder if this "module" is not just a built-in resistor. A normal incandescent lamp has no intelligence and just tells the system that there is a 24 ohm resistor......hmm....
Cheers....Starbiker

Im not sure about the resistor, I simply couldnt see it on the bulp, but it doesnt really mean there isnt any. The other reason, why I believe there isnt, is that if you want to use resistor, there are 8 types for different cars. Maybe I bought the right one by chance. Well, if its what it is, the point is I didnt add anything and it works. If you like I can send you the exact one from ebay I bought.

Are they StVZO approved?

Im sorry, but dont know. If they are producing white light, noone has ever had any problem with it here in central europe. Nobody checks it, inly the blue light attracts and in thesis you cant normaly see the bulp.

In case of our Thesis the LED's should consume the power the normal lamps consume to avoid error reports from the computer. LED's with external resistor eating the unnecessary energie or canbus LED's don't have any added value when it comes to power savings. As the normal halogen lamps have shorter lives and replacing these nasty little creatures in our Thesis is not the most pleasant job LED lighting is a good alternativ. On top of that we do get a more white light colour which is more in line with the xenon lighting. It gives the Thesis a more modern charisma.
There are more lamps to change : those in the outside mirrors lighting the floor, in the trunk, the number plate, the direction indicators on the sides and in the headlamp unit and the fog lights.
See
LED LIGHTING and you've got to spend some money
Have fun, Rino
