I am rebuilding the motor on my Volumex. I have been able to source all the required parts apart from the oil pump. Anyone know where I can get one?
Tried all the main suppliers in New Zealand and some in Australia.

Nice to hear from somebody else who has found out about sealed beams . I agree they are not as powerful as the original. As I said in my email mine were Ford Motorcraft units fitted to the Mark 3 Cortina in the 1970's I have seen some Halogen units during visits to various autojumbles in the Uk. They do give a slightly softer light than the original H4 bulbs.I suggest you try the following for a VX oil pump. BETACAR Bradford West Yorks UK. email address www.lanciaparts.com tele 44 01535 275560 Ask for Chris Bastow. I buy most of my spares from Chris he might have a source of supply if he can't help you he might have a contact in the UK or elsewhere in Europe. Goodluck

Re: VX oil pump reqd
Graeme,
I won't belittle Chris Bastow, but these pumps are virtually impossible to track down and i'd be surprised if Chris can help. I am faced with an engine rebuild on my VX and suspect that I'll end up going dry-sumped as VX spec pumps are unobtainable new in my experience. Worth trying Evocars, Guy Croft etc in UK. Look at Guy Crofts book Fiat and Lancia Twin cams, he talks about dry sumps but (more pertinently in your case) the part numbers for the pumps 'bits' which may be easier to find.

Further to our telecon of yesterday I have spoken to one of my contacts where I used to work. The news is good as the company he mentioned do all the engine refurb work on vehicles they use including oil pumps they also can remanufacture any parts that need replacing. They are based in the West Midlands which means I can go and do a site visit if required. I will speak to them direct and will be in touch again soon

James,
Can you call me at home? Available over the next few days. Lost your contact info (it was in my little black 'Lancia' book) and unable to price the cost of posting the bits. My number: 013398 85530
Cheers, Hamish

Hamish,
I had no idea that the VX oil pump was any different, but I do know that the pickup and sump from an ordinary Beta works fine. I've been running one hard for 2.5 years now.
