HF cams

Unread post by Michael Beattie »

Gents

I am currently selling a set of HF 1600 cams from a series 2 engine on eBay.

I have been asked if they are the same as 1300 cams. I assume he is talking about 1300HF cams.

Am I right is thinking that both cars used the same cam profile?

BTW the link to the cams is

I'll also be selling a set of vernier cam wheels in a day or so

Cheers

The 1.3HF cams became the cams for the 1.6HF and the 1.3S. All second series 1300 coupe's have1.3S engines. The cam wheels are different for series 1 and 2. Later S2's have camshafts without the vernier. These can be replaced by cam shafts with vernier if the proper wheels are used. Your cam shafts should have the number 342 stamped on them somewhere.

The 1300 without S engines as in the Rallye 1.3 and the berlina's (S1 and S2) have the camshaft with less overlap.

Huib

The cams have come from a Series 2 HF engine, should there be any marks or numbers on them? If so, where abouts on the cams are they?

I have looked on the 2 sets of cams I have and they do not seem to have any numbers cast into them.

The numbers are stamped into the shafts between the center bearing and lobe #3. The earlier ones had the numbers. The later ones did not. I have no information when the transition was made but thought it logical to assume that the ones with vernier are "early" and the ones without vernier are "late".

No both sets of cams are vernier and both have no marks on them. All 4 cams came out of Series 2 engines, one set came out of my own car and the other set came with a spare 1600 cylinder head head I have.
