Fulvia Quarterlight seals

Dear Forum,
I am replacing the seals on the rear quarterlight windows, but have encountered a problem, not least of taking them out before photographing them first!
When I put the replacement seals in (good condition old ones), I find that I cannot get the glass to sit against the seal. It sits 'open' well, but needs too much force to close against the seal, and I am fearful of breaking it. I have the glass sitting in its recess (with associated pins), but the seal appears too far out to allow a proper seat. The chrome fixing is correct, I think (I did take it off), but screwed it back into the original holes and the seal is seated in the chrome properly.
Can anyone advise, or post a close up picture?
many thanks
