ignition timing

Unread post by william »

hello,
After my quest for the correct pertronix installation with which I was seriously helped by fellow lancisti I wish to post a new ignition related question.
What are the ideas about a preferred curve for a mildly tuned small capacity Fulvia with 12:1 compression (about 16 bars on the compression shart), 1600 size valves and a free flowing exhaust system. I have now set the curve at 10 deg static and 28 deg total advance. Starting the advance at roughly 1000rpm finishing at 4000rpm.
I'm mostly interested in the total advance I could use. is 28 deg allready pushing it or must I dail in more?
Pulling away from standstill I sometimes hear the engine pinking for a moment but it disappears allways above 1500rpm so I guess it will not ruin my engine. I'm using 98octane fuel and stock 13HF/13S cams.
Hope somebody has suggestions.
