Girling Caliper Tightening Torque
Girling Caliper Tightening Torque
Can anyone tell me where to find the tightening torque for the two bolts afixing the calipers. Can't find them anywhere.
Re: Girling Caliper Tightening Torque
Nothing writen about it in the manuals.
I have use 45 Nm for the small and 65 Nm for the big screw.
Works since 2002 without any problems.
But it´s up to you to follow or not.

I assume you are using locking tabs?

Yes, tabs are used. I found a chart on the internet and for a high grade 10 x 1.25 bolt and the answer was 37-43 Ft-lbs . 65 NM =47 ft-lbs so its ballpark and the lower bolt in the rear won't acccept my torque wrench unless you remove the leaf spring so it is just as tight as one can get it with a closed end wrench. It's always nice to turn past the point of the bolt head to give the flat something to grab on the tab when it is bent over. I will be using from 43 to 50 ft- lbs in the future. The Alfa manual uses a 54-61 ft-lbs range to help align the flats on the tabs and the bolts are identical so there is a cushion.
I'm satisfied they are tight and won't be going anywhere. Thanks
