New door handles and dashboard
Posted: 09 Jul 2010, 14:43
I am making 20 door handles and ten dashboards the dashboards are for S3.
Dashboards, These are made of fibre board and the finish is a painted burr walnut, The paint effect is a rap round finish, as my original dash had plywood edges showing,( which iratated me ) and they are sealed with 2 coats of 2pack PU on the back and the front is burnished to a polished finish. The reason for using fibre next to plywood is that it is more stable and constant in manufacture and will not delaminate and a much cleaner machined edge giving a better finish all round.
Handles, These are also made for fibre board and hand carved and painted with a burr walnut finish and burnished This first batch of 20 are to the dimentions of the original and the future ones will be slightly larger to give a more curvy ergonomic feel ( which has a much softer feel ) I have carved a small hollow in the backs to stop the handle rocking on the captive nut
The first batch will be sold at a discounted price up until 1 Sept. as from then I will be self employed and it is very expensive in Spain
I have read about Mr Fiat and I will give your money back if for any reason you do not like them
