float level Solex 42

Hi

Can anyone tell me what the correct float level should be in standard Solex 42DDHF carbs? And how to measure it? I've read somewhere that the official way is to make some sort of sight glass on the outside, but surely there must be some tricks.

Any comments appreciated.
