Fulvia Sport special serie Daytona ???

Unread post by Erik »

Dear friends,
We found a Fulvia Zagato 1.3, wherefrom they told us that it is a “Daytona”-model (referring to the class-victory of the Fulvia Sport during the 24 Hours of Daytona in ’69). Herunder the references of the car:
Type: 818.650
Chassis: 818.650 *001166
Motor: MO I 818.303 & 52848
Targa: PT 147409
Anno: 1971
Actual color: orange
The engine is running and equipped with Dellorto carburettors (witch is not standard).
So, the question is: does the Fulvia Sport Daytona have existed or not ?
If yes, what are the specifications of this special serie ?
Lancia regards from Belgium, Erik

Hello,
Is this the same car were Jan van Hoorick van inquiring about some time ago on the dutch forum?
The car you are describing seems to me like a normal orange Zagato of the second series. All Competitiones were first series cars and the famous daytona car was the last one. And with chassis 01911 also the last alu bodied sport.
Read carlo stellas book which is compulsory if you want to know about the competitione models and all other Fulvia sport variants.
Since there were just about 27 competitiones made and even less still exsist (the daytona car is no longer alive) the chances of finding one for sale are slim. And prices will be quite the opposite...
But nontheless, congratulations with your purchase as all zagatos are rather special.

Based on a check of the available literature, there was no "special edition" "Fulvia Sport Daytona". As William pointed out, the chassis number indicates an S2 car, so this could not have been related to the factory race efforts.

What you seem to be looking at is a standard Fulvia Sport that someone has transformed into a replica of the competitizione version.
