I have been offerred 2 x Dellorto DHLA 40 carbs with new kits (to be fitted)

Is there any advantage to fitting these to a series1 1.3s? If so would i have to have anew inlet manifold made up to fit them?

If they are not suitable, is there anyone who would want to buy them? for a HF maybe?

The DHLA is equivalent in size terms to the Weber DCOE and the Solex ADDHE. It was commonly fitted to Alfa-Romeo 105 Bertone coupés.

You would need a replica "works" type manifold or adaptor manifold to fit them. Also I suspect that 40s would be too big for a standard 1300 (although it might be OK with small chokes); you would need to gas flow the head, perhaps fit bigger valves, and probably special camshafts - certainly a better exhaust manifold.

If you opt for a manifold be careful before you buy. I have direct experience of two of these and the quality is appalling - and they cost about £300. My two clients with these have had to do a great deal of grinding to make them fit and worse the castings were porous necessitating remedial work by specialists using special resins to seal the manifolds.
