Hi Guys,
I am about to start cleaning up a set of solex carbs for my series 1 restoration. I have discovered that I have 2 x PHH (No Number), 2 x PHH 5 and 1 x PHH16 and 1 x PHH 19.It appears that they are generally all identical except that the some of the jets differ.

1) Can I mix the carbs to make a set as long as I ensure that the jets match?
2) What are the jet specs for a PHH16? The tech manual and parts book does not show these options
3) what are the jet specs for PHH 5? " " " " " "
4) What are the jet specs for the carbs with PHH (No number)

5) Which carbs and what jets are recommended for a 1969 series 1.3s rallye?

It is best to try establish what the original carbs are.
They should have 31mm venturi's. The number '31" is somewhere at the mouth of the carbs. Also, series 1 carbs have no nipple for a fuel return line.
There are many different types in the book. The numbers I usually find on cars are not in the book. The situation is unclear

Quite so Huib!

All utterly baffling!

Thanks guys, so I am on my own.

So basically match the carbs, a 31mm venturi, and what jets do you suggest for a standard 1.3s

It is not straight forward. E.g. the documentation lists different main jets for the various versions with 31mm choke.

The number 31 is somewhere on the top of the carb near the mouth. Stick with the jets it has. In general the older Solexes are better than the later ones.

The older ones have the fuel line connected through a banjo on the top and no connection for the fuel return line (this is a 4mm nipple).

Later ones have the fuel lines connected to the side of the cover. The rear one has an 8mm nipple for the supply line, a 4mm nipple for the return and an 8 mm nipple for the interconnect to the front one.
