Any tips on removing 5 speed box without benefit of a ramp or pit?
Mine (1600 S2 Sport model) has been shedding needle bearings found io front magnetic sump plug: 2mm dia and 12mm wide.
Also after an S2 Final Drive 10/37 (1300 Sport box?) or S2 Berlina one.

I have done this a few times by jacking up incrementally back and front and using the large axle stands available from machine mart, and then a three ton trolley jack with a 1 inch (I think - anyway large diameter) docking hole that takes a clark or similar transmission cradle. this cradle 2 degrees of freedom in pitch and yaw and the trolloy jack provides the third virticle. I was a bit aprehensive but you can get the car high enough and with the tranny cradle horizontal at first then pivoting back after the gearbox is intially disengaged using the jack to slowly lower etc - you will work it out......
Maybe the needle rolloer are coming from the small race supporting the primary input shaft with its complicated double oil seal.... I recplaced mine on my sport box as it had started to leak oil then I noticed the bearing was not in good shape also.
I like your new fuel tank by the way!
When/where are you next racing?

Alternatively you can use the engine crane. Put the car on normal axle stands. Put the hook of the crane over the "Eiffel tower". Put a rope through the Eiffel tower. Lower the gearbox on a piece of cardboard. Pull the cardboard with gearbox from under the car.

Many thanks Tim and Huib
By Eiffel Tower you mean the rear support for gbox/bell housing where may attach the Ign Coil?
Any advice on replacing the bearing and seals?
