Hi,

I've read through all the topics relating to paint colours but can not find any info /codes on the original metallic brown/bronze colour on my 1969 s1 rallye 1.3S. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're referring to a reddish bronze metallic, you may be having trouble identifying it simply because the color name in Italian is a bit misleading: it's "rosa mirabello metallizzato" (Lechler 83 or Glasurit LAN 202).

In this case, the 'rosa' refers to the fact that it's a reddish bronze (as opposed to "bronzo longchamps metallizzato", a greenish-yellow bronze that was an HF Lusso color).

Thank you,

Sounds like the "rosa mirabello". I will try to locate it on a colour chart. The best way to describe it is that it looks like the colour of an old bronze coin.

From your description it may be Bronzo Ascot Metallizato which is Lechler 58

unless the car was repainted, it's pretty unlikely that it would be "bronzo ascot metallizzato"; that was a Series 2 color.

but you can check it out of course; if you can't find Lechler 58, "bronzo ascot metallizzato" is also Glasurit LAN 236

i agree but my colour swatch is that type of colour as opposed to rosa....................it was just a suggestion.

My 1600 zag was painted in a fine metallic bronzy grey which I finally concluded was not a fulvia colour as I found the light silver argento nevada in places underneath. Closest was Grigio escoli which while nice was not as fine a colour for the car so I have ended up matching from a fiat/lancia range from a decade later - I know I should go original but as I am driving and enjoying the car I dont care if I am the only one!!!

No offense intended; it's always possible that Albert's car isn't its original color, in which case the later "bronzo" may be correct.

And one can't be too doctrinaire about originality. The previous owner of my Fanalone painted it red-orange--a proper Lancia color, but from the '90s not 1970, and certainly not the original "rosso corsa". But it's a good quality paint job, and I'm not about to respray it at this point--originality will have to wait a while.

All that said, I still suspect that the color in question is "rosa mirabello metallizzato".

Cheers, Ed

Be interesting if albert can post a realistic photo of the car or at least a bit of its paint!

Best to all on the holy grail of paint matching!

I won't mind posting a photo, what is the best way to do it? I do not have a web site.
