This one's being followed closely on several forums.

There seems to be no rational explanation for a US$40K Fulvia 3; there's nothing special about this one, unless you rate slightly dodgy front brakes as 'special'.

There are a few possible explanations. 1. this is a scam ; 2. Bidder 7 is a moron; 3. Bidder 7 made a typo on his price and will retract his bid or default if he wins ; 4. Bidder 8 is a moron ; 5. Bidder 8 is ‘shill bidder’ to run the price up ; 6. our Fulvia coupes are worth about 4 times more than we imagined.

Of these explanations, #6 seems much less convincing than any of the others. There are several of us watching to see which of the possible scenarions plays out. Stay tuned...

makes you wonder exactly why ebay decided to stop showing bidders ID's it's very dodgy I hate it as there is no way to investigate possibel shill bidding any more on items over £100

Is there any chance they can get out of the auction?
Could this be a hoax to attract other bidders?
Why are the ID's hidden? The 1000$ rule?????
I'm very curious!

Bart * starts collecting fulvias in case option #6 is the solution!* :D

Hi Bart,

Well, if you are not a beliver in the Fulvia auction, you should go to www.ebaymotors.com and then vehicles, and the search word : Flaminia......

BTW, I happen to know the gentleman who is selling the S3 Fulvia. I have not spoken to him about this auction yet, as its his business. I can say we bought a Series One Fulvia Zagato from him back in 1998 for a very reasonable price, so if past performance is to be measured, he is not by any means a unreasonable, suspicious seller.

If it's true that the seller is completely legitimate, then I can only wish him the best of luck in actually getting the successful buyer to follow through on the sale rather than default.

If you wouldn't mind contacting him some time after the auction, all of us would be very interested to learn what really happens.

Ed,

Not a problem. In fact, sometime over the next several weeks, I will be going to the beach (Assateaque) and also stopping over at the seller's restaurant in Ocean City, Maryland. And, I can assure you, he has a *very* good Italian restaurant indeed.

Ciao, Jay
