there is a small banjo fitting with a metal tube on the intake manifold directly below the carb on my series 3 appia vignale. there is nothing attatched to the tube and it's open, pulling a vacuum when the engine is running. what is this for? is there supposed to be anything connected here? thanks in advance, brian

Is it a smalltube, running down toward the ground?

These exist in the Aurelias for draining gas overflow, probably from percolating carbs due to heat, when at rest.

The tube is less than 1 mm open, and usually the vacuum from there doesn't impact the running of the car.

Referencing the parts book:

Series 2 book: Tav # 12, Item # 9 2137202 hose fitting, exhausting fuel from the manifold (loose translation).

Series 3 book: Tav # 12, Item # 9 1106476 pipe, intake manifold fuel leak-off
& 4211111 banjo bolt, fuel leak-off pipe

(Both items used from engine 814.00 n.3701) (for types 812.01 - 812.02 - 812.04 - 812.05 only)

thanks for the info,
indeed it must be a fuel drain for the manifold. the tube is about 1mm as you indicate. at idle the rpm variance is noticable when you block the tube, but no change noted at slightly elevated rpm. i guess i can stop looking for a place to hook up the other end now.
