tubes or not for Fulvia S2

Hi,
I finally have my Fulvia after long time of restauration ready. I bought new tyres (Kormoran 165/70/14, they are a branch of Michelin) but they are tubeless. The rims are the original steel ones. Can I use the tubeless tyres or not? Somebody told me that because the rims are made for tyres with tubes there is a danger that the tyre can go off the rim in a quick curve, is that right? And the wusetion is: If I need tubes can I fit tubes in the new tubeless tyres or do I need special tyres with tubes?
Thanks,
Marios

Generally speaking, you can use tubes in tubeless tires without a problem.

Thanks, for the answer. But can I use the tubeless tyres (without tube) in my fulvia or ist dangerous. The guy that sold them to me and fitted them told me that the rims are suitable for tubeless tyres as well.

I believe you can fit tubeless but for legal reasons cannot recommend it is OK. I found that tubes in steel wheels tended to rust the inside of the wheel givining other problems. I am sure my steel wheels are tubeless Michelins but cant remember.

The fellow tha mounted your tires is probably correct. AFAIK, most 1960s and later steel rims can accept tubeless tires. It's a function of the rim bead; earlier wheels had a rolled bead that wouldn't properly seal against the tire sidewall. But if your tire fitter is telling you that your rim beads are suitable for tubeless tires, I can't think of any reason not to believe him.

My experience with tubeless tires has being with no problems, in steel rims and alloys, infact with tubes, I had problems because the loose particles of an old inside of wheel can get you flat, I had 2 tubes replace in the same wheel, and the 3rd time I whent with out tube, no problems.
