Thank you for your previous posts.

I have now removed the cylinder head and can report that there is NO water in the oil in the sump and the gasket seems to have disolved leading to corrosion of the metal inards in at least 3 locations.

It is better to see the pictures so I have posted them here:

Anyone had problems with Spresso gaskets before?

Would standard Green anti freeze have this effect?

Car stored in de-humidified garage when not used and always run for at least 15 km before shut down. Oil was last changed 24 Dec 2008. Approx. 320km since rebuild

Also thermostat housing has corroded/become porous - it was not perfect but very useable last year.

Some years ago i have had also a problem with with a gasket from spesso when i assemble my new 1,3 engine.
The block with new pistions and and mech. work on the top. Also complet rework of the head.

Without running I lost the water between the block and the head. Torque of the screws was o.k.

I have organise a new gasket ( old production found in Imola ) from a friend and the problem was solved.
The check of the bad gasket shows that the thickness of the steel inlets (rings )
was not o.k. ( to thick )

regards
Andreas
