Air box mods?

I've just got a spare std airbox for the carbs, with a view to modifying it internally to improve the airflow to the carbs. My initial thought is to fit a single "cone" type filter to the end of the intake tube.
What other mods do I need to do and is there any of the existing inner parts/panels that should remain to ensure an equal distribution of air to all 4 trumpets?
Cheers
Michael

I have seen on various track prepared fulvias the airbox modded with a large diameter flexible tube coming off the side of the air box opposite the trumpets but have not noticed what filter is on the end which goes down into wing area. old filter must be deleted I assume. Martin at omicron believes the standard air box is pretty good though.

The procedure is as follows:
Cut out all the internal rubbish in the outer part.
Remove and weld up the flap for the exhaust heated air supply.
Shorten the inlet tube, fit a suitable piece of silicone rubber hose and buy an appropriate cylindrical air filter to locate behind the RH headlamps.
The original airbox arrangement is restrictive and too close to the trumpets. You will need at least to reduce the size of your air corrector jets if you make to changes.
