On the Oregon trail!

Well, not the historical Oregon trail, used by wagon trains heading west, but the annual Fiat gathering at Howard Lake Prairie, near Ashland, in Southern Oregon.

I'll be taking the Fulvia ... which I'm sure will be an object of great curiosity to my Fiat friends.

Outbound, it's up the California coast on Highway 1, then inland through the mountains, along the Klamath river valley. Then back down Interstate 5 on Sunday.

This will be "Bitsa's" first big expedition. Wish me luck!

Peter,

At least you're unlikely to need your heater, given the weather we've been having...

Good luck, and be sure to take lots of snaps!

Thanks for the good wishes. Evidently they worked, because 'Bitsa' performed perfectly for the whole trip! Total distance covered, about 1100 miles. Average fuel consumption, about 30 miles per US gallon. Ambient temperature, 90-110 degrees F for most of the time. As you say, Shaun, no heater needed!

Everyone liked the Fulvia, and one guy with a nice Alfa GTV offered to swap! Not sure he's serious, but food for thought ...

No trouble keeping up with a couple of Fiat spiders with tuned 2 litre engines on the twisty mountain roads. Going up long, steep hills was a different matter, though!

I didn't take many photos, but I do have several videos shot from inside the car. I'll edit and post these in due course.

Peter, sounds like a good trip! Would be interested in seeing your vids.

But surely a GTV would be a retrograde step after a Fulvia!

It certainly would be, especially if it rained...

Here are a few videos I shot from the Fulvia on our way up to the event:

Peter, thanks for sharing the videos!

Notwithstanding the political incorrectness of its name, "Dead Indian Road" looks like a nice very Fulvia route. And I liked the dog on the motorbike trailer...
